It is a notch more grown-up and more distinctive than 9PM and lasts all day. If you want the gift to feel luxurious when it is unwrapped and on his skin, this is the one - the heavy faceted bottle helps.

Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man - for the man who wears fresh designers
The pick if he lives in blue bottles and you want to give him something bolder. The smoky-pineapple opening reads as Creed Aventus to most noses, it projects hard, and it lasts eight hours plus by owner consensus. It is unapologetically a loud, noticed fragrance - which, for a night out, is the point.

Lattafa Asad - the dark evening one
Pineapple, tobacco, coffee and vanilla over a warm woody-oud base: bold, adult and heavy-hitting, and a genuine evening scent that punches well above its price. It is the least "safe" bottle here because it is polarizing - the boozy pineapple-tobacco combination is either exactly his thing or not. If he already wears dark, sweet fragrances and you want him in something with more edge, this is it.
Give it to: a partner who wears warm scents and likes to be noticed. Not for: daytime, the office, or anyone who wants subtle. Full review.
Al Haramain Amber Oud Ruby Edition - the fun, fruity one
Sweet red berries and jammy warmth over Al Haramain's long-lasting amber base - the most overtly fun bottle in the Amber Oud line, loud and complimented and better suited to a night out than a boardroom. If Gold is the safe Amber Oud, Ruby is the one that turns heads, and the deep red presentation box looks like a holiday gift before it is even opened.

Two things to say when you give it
